Our role
Hammerlane Permitting Services is a service of Hammerlane Logistics Management LLC. We assist trucking companies with gathering information and coordinating oversize or overweight permit requests. Hammerlane is not a government permitting authority. Only the applicable agency can approve, deny, issue, or set conditions for a permit. Submission of a request through this website does not create a permit or authorize movement.
Requirements, routes, processing times, and escort conditions depend on the jurisdiction and the particular load. A state permit may not cover local roads; additional local authorization may be required.
Information you provide
The carrier or requestor is responsible for supplying complete and accurate contact, route, vehicle, load, dimension, gross weight, axle, and timing information. Changes to a load, vehicle, route, or travel date should be reported before movement because they may require a revised or additional permit.
Hammerlane relies on the information supplied by the carrier, customer, driver, or their representative. Customers must verify measurements, weights, axle configurations, vehicle identifiers, route details, and travel dates before submitting them. Hammerlane’s review or request for clarification does not transfer responsibility for the accuracy of that information to Hammerlane.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Hammerlane Logistics Management LLC is not responsible for errors, omissions, or inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information submitted to us, or for resulting permit errors, delays, additional charges, citations, penalties, or losses attributable to that information. Changes must be reported promptly; an existing permit may not cover the revised move.
Permits issued by governing agencies
State, county, municipal, and other governing agencies control permit approval, issuance, routing, restrictions, and permit conditions. Hammerlane coordinates requests but does not control an agency’s decisions, systems, processing times, or the contents of the permits it issues.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Hammerlane Logistics Management LLC is not responsible for errors, omissions, discrepancies, delays, denials, cancellations, or other issues attributable to a governing agency or its issued permits, or for resulting costs or losses arising from matters beyond Hammerlane’s control. Forwarding an agency-issued permit does not guarantee that the agency’s information is error-free or that every road, clearance, or travel condition is suitable for the actual move.
Review permits and report errors before moving
The carrier and driver must review every permit upon receipt and before departure. Confirm the carrier name, vehicle identifiers, load description, loaded dimensions, gross and axle weights, authorized route, travel dates, escort requirements, and all other conditions against the actual move.
Do not begin or continue movement under a permit you know or suspect is incorrect, incomplete, expired, or unsuitable for the move. Contact Hammerlane at permits@hammerlanelm.com promptly with the permit number and a description of the discrepancy. Agency clarification, correction, or reissuance may be required before travel; customers must wait for the applicable authorization.
Corrections may involve additional agency fees and processing time. Any applicable charges will be communicated. Reporting an error does not itself amend a permit, authorize travel, or guarantee a correction by a particular time.
These disclosures apply only to the extent allowed by applicable law and do not exclude responsibility or legal rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Payment and issuance
Permits must be paid in advance of issuance. Hammerlane will provide the applicable charges and payment instructions after reviewing the request. Do not enter payment card information in the permit request form. Submitting the form alone does not constitute payment or a promise that a permit will be issued.
Agency charges and any service charges will be communicated for the particular request. Questions about a charge should be resolved with Hammerlane before payment is made.
Travel and compliance
The carrier and driver must verify that issued permits match the actual vehicle, load, dimensions, weight, route, and travel dates. They must review and follow all permit conditions and applicable rules, including restrictions involving routes, travel hours, signs, escorts, and local approvals. Do not move solely on the basis of a submitted request, quote, or pending application.
Route and travel conditions can change. An issued permit should be checked again before departure for its scope and any current restrictions.
Submitted information
The request form collects business contact details and information about the proposed move. Hammerlane uses submitted information to review the request, contact the requestor, coordinate applicable permit work, and maintain the request record. Processing may require providing relevant information to permitting agencies or parties involved in the move. Do not submit Social Security numbers, payment card numbers, or other sensitive personal information through the form.
For general background on oversize and overweight permits and escort conditions, see the Federal Highway Administration’s permit resources. The issued permits and applicable jurisdictional requirements govern each move.
